Thane is a city situated just beside Mumbai but still differs from Mumbai a lot. Thane also has an history from the peshwa's to the very Britisher's. The first commercial railway runned in India was between Bombay(back then) to Thane. Apart from being famous for lakes and having history of origin of commercial railways, Thane city is the largest among the three municipal corporations that forms Thane Taluka.

Whenever the lakes of Thane are pointed out there are this must say names listed- Masunda talao, Kacharali talao, Makhamali talao & Upvan Talao. This are the places you can miss when you visit Thane. This Lakes doesn't only represent the beauty of serenity of nature but of the people who lives in this city too. It's indeed a treat to watch this lakes on an sunset time with friends.

Whenever we talk about any city, it's food specialty is something which we are always excited about. This city of Lakes will never disappoint you. You can find numerous food stalls around the city also if you are fan of junk food than khaugalli of pamchpakhadi area is something you shouldn't miss. But the real flavor of Thane is in Misal of mamledar.

Mamledar is an Snacks outlet in Thane which is serving food for the Thanekar's(Residents of Thane) since last 5 decades. In previous times this hotel was restricted for only government officials working in the "Tahsildar Karyalaya" beside which the hotel is situated. Speciality of Mamledar is in its Spicy Misal Pav, although there serve many other lip-smacking food items like Dahiwada, Usal Pav, cutlet Pav, etc.

After food and serenity of nature, Thane is also famous for its cultural diversity. All caste and religions come together and celebrate their unity. Muslims, Sindhis, Gujaratis, Sikhs, jains, Tamils, North Indians, Marathis and everyone else. You will find all the colors of happiness and spirituality in this city and all this people together completes Thane.
